The brief was to almost double the size of the existing bungalow and create a more well lit open plan living space.

​

Large areas of glazing and roof lights were proposed to maximise light exposure in the north facing extension, with bi-folding doors opening out of the open plan entertaining space onto a raised timber deck overlooking the garden.

​

The proposals required serious thought and consideration given the awkwardly sloping topography of the site. As part of the application process a full drainage design was required as well as an ecological assessment and topographical survey of the site. The coordination of all such external consultants was managed by ourselves and after lengthy discussions with the local authority and several revisions planning permission was eventually granted.

We worked closely with a team of structural engineers and produced a full set of construction drawings, obtaining building regulations approval and helping to source a competent contractor to carry out the works.

Works are due to start on site October 2020.
